Accountability ~Fiscal Responsibility & Quality of Life
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and the citizens of Manchester over the last two years as a Director on the Town of Manchester’s Board. With your support I hope to be re-elected, along with my Republican colleagues, to a second term on
November 6.
When contemplating to run again, I reflected on the experiences of my freshman term, recalling the successes, challenges, and learning that came with not only being new, but being in a minority voting position on the board. Opportunities to influence town policy and lessen citizen concerns helped to season my experience and have fueled my desire to seek re-election.
The Republican team of Lou Spadaccini, Matt Peak and I lobbied hard to minimize the burden of residential property re-assessment, preserve the services in Manchester that our residents value, and make improvements in the areas of education, community safety and fiscal responsibility. As the “majority of three,” I believe our caucus brought great value to board discussions as a result of our integrity, professional experience and steadfast mission to ensure the voices of the residents of Manchester were well represented. The following are some of the initiatives I sponsored that are now in place to help improve the quality of life for Manchester’s residents and businesses:
· CHFA Targeted East/West Side Homeownership & Down Payment
Assistance Loan Program for Manchester, in Bi-partisan Collaboration
with Rep. Ryan Barry (D)
· Town Employee Student Mentoring Program
· Life Scholarship/ Workforce Partners Program
· Elderly Tax Relief Program/Property Tax Phase-In
· Downtown District Parking Lot Surveillance Cameras
· Hybrid Vehicle Purchases w/DOT Grant Program
· Purchase of Police Department Taser Equipment for Officer and Community
Safety
· Manchester Historical Society HVAC Upgrades
· Neighborhood Block Watch Activity Funding from Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG)
· Housing Initiative Funding from CDBG
· 2010 Energy Conservation Commitment
· “Paws for a Cause” Disability Funding
For Election 2007, the Republican Caucus has an Energetic and Dynamic Slate!
In addition to Lou, Matt and I, Jeff Beckman, Rob Desilet and Mark Tweedie round out our Republican ticket by representing education, public service, and business. We represent a balanced cross-section of Manchester’s diverse citizenry and are all dedicated to ensuring that Manchester remains an attractive and affordable community for all that live and work here, that our schools provide a safe and challenging learning environment, and businesses continue to find Manchester an appealing location to invest their operations. To achieve this, we are going to be campaigning vigorously in the next few months in order to win a true majority – 6 seats on the board. Your vote is important!
I will continue to work hard to address the issues that are important to you. Representing the residents of Manchester is a great privilege and responsibility, and I sincerely hope that I have earned your trust, respect and support…the resounding measure of success.
Proudly representing you,
